s26 - Blues Grading [WB7]

By Mario Fournier (BLUES) On Monday 4th March 2024 / 6:46pm

The Saint Louis Blues are playing for .600 which is good but since a little time here they can’t win two games in a row. They usually win against top team then loose against the shitty team, trying to figure out what is wrong, but everything seems to be good.

Forwards

The Blues are scoring goals, they are 5th overall with 169 goals, so nothing wrong here, their young players are doing great so their veterans.

Tyler Seguin scored 28 goals, has 35 assists 63 points in 55 games played, can we ask him to do better, the answer is no.

Bobby Ryan scored 21 goals has 34 assists 55 points in 55 games played, another player that we can’t ask to do better.

Maxim Lapierre scored 16 goals has 31 assists 47 points in 55 games played and all this playing second line so no we can ask him to do better then this.

Reilly Smith Scored 16 goals has 18 assists for 34 points in 55 games played, he is only 24 years old I think he is doing great for his age.

Overall grade: A

Defensemen

The Blues gave up 158 goals, they are 11th in the league if there is something that can improve this is it but to be honest with 5 defense man under 24 years of age, they are doing what they can.

The top defender is Connor Murphy scored 3 goals has 14 assists for 17 points in 48 games played, plus/minus 9 he is becoming an elite defender.

Jared Tinordi scored 3 gaols has 9 assists for 12 points in 55 games played, plus/minus -8, he has to improve hid defensive side of the game.

Scott Mayfield scored 1 goal has 10 assists for 11 points, plus/minus -1 still young needs to work on his defensive game.

Alex Petrovic scored 1 goal has 8 assists for 9 points, plus/minus 6, he develops at a good pace and has a great future in front of him.

Overall grade: C+

 Goalies

The Blues goalies should be amongst the best of the league, but they are young and still need to mature as usually goalie hit their full development at around 28 years old.

Darcy Kuemper 91ov has won 23 games lost 14 in 40 games started for a PCT of .920 and average of 2.72.

JF Berube the Kuemper replacement next season won 5 games lost 4 games in 17 games started for a PCT of .906 and average of 2.99.

Overall grade: B-

s26 - Blues Prospect Report [WB6]

By Mario Fournier (BLUES) On Tuesday 20th February 2024 / 7:26pm

Saint Louis Missouri: The Blues see a great future with their newcomers this season; we have many defenders but still we need them in the roster. So new players to introduce to the league are 24 years old Reily Smith, 24 years old JF Berube, 25 years old Calvin Pickard, 24 years old Scott Mayfield, 22 years old Connor Murphy, 22 years old Tyler Wotherspoon, 22 years old Duncan Siemens and 25 years old Tomas Tatar and 22 years old Vincent Trocheck, they are both coming from a trade from Toronto and they are both on our pro playing an important role.

In the Blues organization we came to a decision to let the young defensemen play in our pro and let them develop at pro level. So far after 36 games, def squad allowed 107 shots. Instead of paying a defenseman nine million and more to play in our pro roster, we brought up five young players at a little cost each, that way we can put more power up in front.

4 starting d-men are 24 yrs or younger 22 years old Connor Murphy, 24 years old Jared Tinordi, Alec Petrovic and Scott Mayfield. Blues know they are not going for the cup this season or next so patience and try to get more young players on the team.

The Blues organization knows they must be patient with their young defensive core, and they will give them all the rope they need to become what they can become. We know we are giving them Hughes responsibilities but at the same time they are going to mature faster.

As for forward we have 24 years old winger Reily Smith,25 years old winger Tomas Tatar and 22 years old center Vincent Trocheck playing on pro, we do not expect that much from the team this season all we need is for youngster to get experience.

In net we have new comer 24 years old JF Berube, he played 14 games so far, Average of 2.99 and saving percentage of .906 he did great so far.

Good luck to everyone for the rest of the season.

s26 - Hate or Not [WB5]

By Mario Fournier (BLUES) On Tuesday 20th February 2024 / 6:51pm

Saint Louis Missouri : Many season the standing was dominated by the Wild and Saitt-Louis most of the time the last two team, always in the bottom of the Central Division. Lets see what teams could be the next leading team of the Central Division.

St-Louis : We started the season with a lots of power and were among thee top team of the VHL, yes this is true were are in a playoff spot again. Now the team did not have a loosing streak this season so far. We made a trade for Tyler Seguin to boost our chance to not getting a loosing streak and still that trade the team has been in the top of the standing.

The most hated team for the Saint Louis Blues, hmm let me think about it, we do not have an enemy so far but if I must pick a team, it would be the Minnesota Wild, every damn year they are going for first place in the Central division and this season is not different from before. My Blues have 45 points, this is three points less then the Wild but if we continue to win this gap between us will vanish and this is something we work hard on.

Minnesota Wild: First of the Central Division and they are going for the title of the division again, they have 48 points and they are getting points and do not have the intention to slow down as I wish. They did not move to get stronger so I think Saint Louis has a problem we need to fix. The Wild first 3 scorers are Derick Brassard, he has 18 goals 21 assists for 39 points in 34 games then PA Parenteau has 15 goals 23 assists for 38 points in 36 games and David Legwand with 16 goals 21 assists for 37 points in 33 games. Their first line is red hot with average players and they are still winning games, I wish you bad luck Wild, start a slump soon so I can win our division.

Note : Blues are looking to get a game changer forward to help the team to accomplish something they do not use to, be first of the whole league. The team is going to look into it but will not trade their fisrt pick over a old player like they did before, this time is over.

s26 - Surprising [WB4]

By Mario Fournier (BLUES) On Monday 5th February 2024 / 4:52pm

Saint Louis Missouri : We wanted to write about Tomas Tatar our top player and one of the top rookies scorer in the VHL. The 25 years old winger is doing awesome with 17 games played he scored 5 goals and has 6 assists and all this on our third line, coach just moved him up on second line, Tomas is red hot right now and he deserve his salary, the administration is very pleased with his game. We had him in a trade with Whalers.

Is this a surprise or not, also 24 years old winger Reilly Smith is still doing great with 17 games played he scored 7 goals and 4 assists, Another player that the Blues got from Whalers and they never quit on him, since he became a Blues his production always goes up. Reilly is a Blues in his heart and is a player we can beleive in. Reilly has worked his way up in the organization and now he is playing on second line and power play.

The Saint Louis Blues are going for the cup this season, they have great goalies in net, they have a good attack but young defense squad, also depth in the roster, there is no weakest point for the Blues this season, this is the first season that the Blues are strong in every position.

In net 24 years old young goalie JF Berube as a backup, he came from Chicago and he did not cost a lot, an 81ov number two goalie that change everything for the Blues. He started games and did great.

As of now the Saint-Louis Blues are 10 wins, 5 lost, 2 overtime lost so far this season. We did some trade that changed the team. Of course Kuemper is on fire, we are one of the best defensive team.

I hope this will last a lot longer to catch everyone and a chance to get first over all in the standing.

s26 - VHL Quality [WB3]

By Mario Fournier (BLUES) On Friday 2nd February 2024 / 9:19pm

When a guy is looking for a league, the VHL is the one with a sparkle amongst all of them. I have six leagues and there is not a league that reaches the standard of the VHL.

  1. Every new gm noticed how many years the league has been running, this is an important factor to look at, you do not want to join a league that will fold after a couple of seasons.
  2. Gm in this league is amongst the best you can get; their knowledge is at top. They all know their hockey and trading is not that easy as they know the value of players. So, gm in the league do not quit the league, many of them as many years of experience in the VHL.
  3. The activity in the league is crucial and this is what we get in the VHL. Every day there is activity on Slack, or the website and it keeps the flames burning inside every gm in the league.
  4. The next thing new gm will look at is who is the person that runs the league, is it runs fairly and actively. Here we are fortunate to have Chris who is always fair and active, also he knows what he is talking about and knows what to do to solve many problems that come up.
  5. Everyone that wants to join or the gm in the league enjoys the camps option every off season, when come time to get new gm the camps are a big factor of the quality of the gm joining.
  6. AP system is part of the league, but I think this should be taken out, I have the chance to be retired and I can take advantage of the AP but for a gm that works every day who has a family writing article usually take at least one hours to write, I do not think people have the time to do that, they must work and take care of the family. So, I would take it out.
  7. The only thing I hate is the waiver draft to start the season, all we are getting here is fourth line plyers and players picked can not go in the farm. This is a waste of time for everyone, so I would take it out.

So, I think the VHL is simply the best league around now a day, keep up the best work everyone and enjoy being part of something special.
